MOUNTAIN RIVER GRIFFONS

PUPPY CONTRACT

This agreement is between Right Angles Ltd. Co DBA Mountain River Griffons (breeder) and Buyer(s).

All deposits are non-refundable.  Full payment is made before the puppy leaves our home or when you pick up your puppy.

Breeder Warranties:

At this time of sale, breeders believe that puppies are healthy and sound and are current on all vaccinations. Breeders have provided this puppy with the best possible environment and socialization to get the puppy off at a great start.  Breeders will always accept a puppy back or help the buyer find a good home for the puppy. If a buyer would like to sell or place a puppy into another suitable home, they may. Under no circumstances will the puppy be placed in a shelter or rescue.

The Breeder guarantees for 2 Years (24 months) from the date the buyer receives the puppy that the puppy is free from hip and elbow dysplasia, that will require surgery or euthanasia, as defined by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. The breeder does not warranty on any puppies passing their OFA or PennHIP tests with results required for breeding. The breeder cannot be responsible for the buyer allowing the puppy to jump on or from items too tall for the puppy or allowing too hard of training or play at a young age.

The Puppy is in good health and free of life-threatening diseases or disabilities at the time of sale. If at the initial Veterinary Exam discussed below under Buyer Warranties, it is diagnosed with a life-threatening disease or disability, Breeder shall offer Buyer two options after examining the appropriate medical reports: (1) keep the Puppy and receive a 50% refund of the Purchase Price after it is spayed or neutered, if appropriate, or (2) relinquish the Puppy to Breeder and receive a full refund, or a replacement puppy of similar breeding quality in a reasonable time period.

Buyer must give the breeder the right to clear communication with the veterinarian working on the case. Breeders must receive copies of OFA or Pen Hip forms. If this animal has been bred, this contract is null and void. This health guarantee is good for 2 Years (24 months) from the date the buyer receives the puppy.

Responsibilities and Warranties of the Buyer:

The buyer agrees to provide the highest quality of care for the puppy. This includes quality food, water, shelter from heat or cold, active companionship, appropriate exercise, quality training & professional veterinary care whenever necessary. The Buyer will take the Puppy to a licensed Vet within 14 days of delivery to receive its second DHLPP vaccination. Appropriate professional veterinary care includes, but not limited to, annual exams, regular parasite checks and worming, if necessary, vaccinations as recommended by local protocol and regular heartworm preventive. Please keep documentation of all veterinary related care and medication/vaccinations.

The Buyer will provide a safe and comfortable environment, including providing the Puppy with quality food, fresh water always, shelter, affection, and routine veterinarian care, including an annual exam, all annual shots and other medications recommended by a veterinarian, annual fecal exam, continual heartworm prevention and rabies vaccinations as required by the state and county of residence.

The Buyer will maintain preventative care related to hip dysplasia, such as proper nutrition, proper exercise and preventing stress injuries (i.e. not allowing Puppy to jump from extreme heights, excessive forced exercise or running on hard surfaces at a very young age)

The Buyer agrees the Puppy will not be left alone in a backyard or kennel for extended periods of time (other than a normal workday), the Puppy will reside in the home, have access to a fenced yard, regular exercise, and will not be routinely chained, “tied-out” or continually crated.

The Puppy is being sold with the understanding that it is going to a select home, will be socialized properly, and will become a member of the Buyers’ family. • The Buyer agrees that they are not acting as, or in part of, any agent in the purchase of a Puppy and Buyer will not sell this dog or any of its progeny to any agent, animal broker, pet store, research laboratory, guard dog business or drop it off at a shelter. The Buyer commits that the dog will remain in its sole custody, which may include immediate family members, or it will be returned to the Breeder. The Buyer and Breeder agree to keep each other informed of their current addresses.

Relinquishment of Puppy: Buyer hereby agrees that if at any time the Buyer or its immediate family member cannot take proper care of the Puppy or must re-home the Puppy, the Buyer MUST contact the Breeder and the Breeder will have the choice to either (1) repossess the Puppy, or (2) assist the Buyer in finding a suitable home for the Puppy. Under no circumstances shall Puppy be taken to an animal shelter, humane society, or rescue group. It is understood by the Buyer that if this provision is breached, Buyer shall be responsible for all costs incurred by the Breeder in recovering the Puppy. The Buyer shall not be required to relinquish the puppy in an isolated event that the puppy has been lost and unbeknownst to the Buyer held temporarily by an animal shelter, humane society, or rescue group.

Registration:

This Litter is registered with AKC (American Kennel Club). The buyer is provided with paperwork to register and name the puppy with a limited registration. The Puppy’s registered name shall start with “Mountain River”, followed by your choice, “Mountain River __________________”. This naming convention in no way affects the Puppy’s call name. The buyer has one month to register their puppy. If the buyer would like to earn their breeding right the following steps are required.

1) The pup will be tested in Natural Ability (NA) at a NAVHDA (North America Versatile Hunting Dog Association) sanction test. The test is to be completed up to and including the day the pup turns 16 months of age. Puppy must score 105 or higher to receive breeding rights. The purchaser will assume all costs of training and testing.

2) Pups must have hips tested using either OFA (Orthopedic Foundation of Animals) or PennHIP for hereditary Canine Hip Dysplasia. OFA is not done until 2 years of age. Pups must score average or better.

The breeder does not warranty on any puppies passing their OFA or PennHIP tests. The breeder cannot be responsible for the buyer allowing the puppy to jump on or from items too tall for the puppy or allow too hard training or play at a young age.

3) In addition, Breeder shall have the one-time option, free of charge, to: (1) receive one puppy of Breeder’s choice back from Buyer from any breeding involving a Full Registration female puppy, (2) receive one stud service (breeding) from a Full Registration male puppy, or (3) receive payment of $2000.00 from Buyer.

4) Upon completion of steps 1-3 full breeding rights will be transferred to the purchaser, at purchasers’ expense.

The above warranties are not transferable to a new owner. Any puppy that is returned to the breeder for any reason will be done at the buyer’s expense.
